Recordando: LHFA Meet and Greet
On October 15th, the Latino/Hispanic Faculty Association (LHFA) hosted a "Meet And Greet" event to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month. The event was attended by UMBC President Valerie Ashby, who gave a speech on the importance of Hispanic communities to the institution.
During the event, the LHFA presented an award to Dr. Ana María Schwartz Caballero in recognition of her lifetime achievement. Dr. Ana Maria Schwartz Caballero has worked at UMBC for 30 years and has been very involved in Baltimore's Hispanic and Latino communities. Also honored were UMBC faculty members Thania Muñoz, Yolanda Valencia, and Fernando Vonhoff. This meeting was an opportunity to learn about research projects currently being developed by UMBC Hispanic and Latino faculty and students. The event included a food and beverage buffet, and UMBC details were distributed to attendees. This "Meet And Greet" was covered on social media, having a significant following and engagement in the UMBC community.
